Description

Kerala is known for its high-quality coconuts, often called "God’s own coconut" due to the state's ideal growing conditions. The coconuts from Kerala are rich in oil content, have a hard shell, and are widely used for cooking, making coconut oil, coir, and other products.

Remedies

Apply Bordeaux mixture (1%) or Copper Oxychloride (0.25%) to infected areas. Remove and destroy infected palms | Scrape the affected area, apply Bordeaux paste, and use Trichoderma-based fungicides | Spray 1% Bordeaux mixture or Copper Oxychloride. Improve drainage and aeration.

Cultivation Time

Seedling Planting: June - December (Ideal in monsoon) | Flowering: Starts after 4-5 years. | Harvesting: Throughout the year, but peak seasons are January - May & September - December.

Temperature: 27°C - 32°C (Optimum growth) | Rainfall: 1500 - 2500 mm annually | Humidity: High humidity (70-80%) is ideal | Sunlight: Requires full sunlight (6-8 hours daily).| Altitude: Grows well up to 600 meters above sea level.

Well-drained, sandy loam or laterite soil with good water retention.
